What is a tampon?A tampon is like a small rolled up piece of cotton with a string at one end. You push a tampon into your vagina leaving the string hanging outside your body. The string is then used to pull the tampon out. Most tampons also come with applicators that help you to insert the tampon, but on the other hand some do don't come with applicators. As a tampon is put into the vagina, there is no problem about going to the bathroom when using one. Some girls find it takes some time to get used to using tampons and that they are a little uncomfortable to insert at first. Never try to force a tampon in if it hurts. Taking some time to relax often helps.

Tampon FAQHow old do you have to be to use tampons?
There is no age, if you are old enough to have your period you are old enough to use tampons, most people say wait till at least your third period to use tampons but you don't have to, you can wait as long as you want to till you try your first tampon, Claudia and Kali both used tampons on there first period but I know people who have had their periods for years and haven't used a tampon. Can I use a tampon overnight? It depends, if you know you wont sleep more than 8 hours go ahead and wear one but if you are one of those people who sleeps more than 8 hours a night you will be safer wearing a pad to bed. Can I use two tampons at the same time? No don't use two at the same time, if you are worried you are going to leak try using a higher absorbency or wear a tampon and a pantyliner or pad. Can a tampon get lost inside of you? No way! There's no place for it to go. The tampon goes into the vagina. At the top of the vagina is the opening of the cervix. This opening is tiny – about as thick as a pencil point. That's far too small to let a tampon through to any other part of your body. Besides, the tampon is held in place by the muscles of your vagina until you remove the tampon. Do tampons make you loose your virginity? Nope! Your hymen might break while you are inserting a tampon but that has nothing to do with your virginity. Your hymen can also break just by doing sports or riding a horse! You are still a virgin until you have sexual intercourse. |
